Montpellier is an attractive French city with a thriving university. The Place de Comedie is the main town square although new business dsitricts have also sprung up around the centre and near the university. Montpellier has some impressive centrally-located sights, including two cathedrals and a Roman aqueduct. Although located near the Mediterranean, there is no easy tourist-friendly way of getting to the coast yet (a future Metro line will correct this).
I spent two nights in Montpellier and this was enough to get a taste of the city but I could quite happily return for another longer visit.
